Genestreams Website Development Process and Budget for the Genestreams Songlines Sculptures

Concept for Genestreams Songlines Sculptures Development if we get funding for the Website and Software.

1 – Using the website anyone in the world can generate a Genestreams Augmented Reality sculpture for $50. There is no art or information on the AR Genestreams Sculpture, it will not be listed on the tourism trail. A yearly admin fee to manage content and maintain the platform of $50 would apply.

2 – For an extra $90 they will be able to access the Genestreams website to create profile pages for artists whose work they want to use on the outside of the sculpture and profile pages for selected species from the region. Photos of the selected species will be featured on the inside of the sculpture. There will be a downloadable written agreement on the website that artists will be required to sign that stipulates that they are happy for their art to be used. There will be no research on the shared ancestry of species at this stage. A yearly admin fee to manage content and maintain the platform of about $140. Only projects in Australia will be listed on the Genestreams Songlines Sculpture tourism trail.

3 – These Genestreams Songlines Sculptures in Augmented Reality will be listed on the tourism trail as a place holder Augmented Reality Genestreams Songlines Sculptures. An account for the sculpture will be created by website admin where funding that is raised through the sculpture will be directed. This open approach of allowing anyone to initiate an AR Genestreams sculpture and quickly active the project as a Genestreams Songlines Sculpture will empower project initiators with a foundation to raise funding to pay for the art and research which completes an AR sculpture that is ready to become a real sculpture with further funding.

4 – Supporters and visitors to an augmented sculpture may make a contribution to maintain the sculpture and keep the tourism trail updated. Once the maintenance amount of $140 is reached per year any further funds will go to the raising $18,000 for the sculpture to become a platinum project which employs the artists to create art specifically for the sculpture and funds research of the shared ancestry of the species for a base plate. Artists will be paid $500 per panel, Genestreams Art – $7,500, Songlines Art – $7,500, shared ancestry research and baseplate generation $500, the Genestreams Songlines Digital Mural of all contributing artworks will be created for $500, legal work & licensing fee – $2,000. Total $18,000 to create the platinum Genestreams Songlines Sculpture in Augmented Reality.

5 – When the required amount of $18,000 is reached the Genestreams Songlines Sculpture team will oversee the creation of the art for the platinum Augmented Reality Genestreams Songlines Sculpture. This will offer opportunities for Aboriginal Artists of the region to be commissioned to create Songlines art for the project. The SciArt team will create the internal Genestreams art. The artists keep their original artworks. The project will then be listed on the tourism trail as a completed AR Genestreams Songlines Sculpture. Only these completed AR Genestreams Songlines Sculptures may be created as a real sculptures.

6 – Once the project is completed as a Platinum AR Genestreams Songlines Sculpture. Visitors to the sculpture may make a contribution to maintain it. Once this amount of $140 is reached per year any further funds for the year will be divided into 2 accounts. Half will go to revegetation work in the region and the second half will go to raising funds for a real sculpture.

7 – Installing a real Genestreams Songlines Sculpture. Fabrication, digital printing and Installation of the Genestreams Songlines Sculpture – $55,000 (as calculated on material prices (February 2022) Genestreams Songlines Sculpture design consultation fee – $1,000. Total $56,000.

8 – Once the real sculpture is completed visitors to the sculpture may make a contribution to (1) maintain the website – $140, (2) maintain the sculpture – $1000 per year. Once this amount of $1,140 per year is reached per year any further funds will go to revegetation work in the region.

Extinct Concept

There are 4 consecutive steps to this project. Each step on completion is a project in itself and is not reliant on the further steps to be an effective tool in promoting the region.

Step 1 – Genestreams Project – Modelling the Shared Ancestry of Selected Regional Species for Augmented Reality art and Public Art

  • Scientific research and generation of the Genestreams Augmented Reality Sculpture – $500
  • There is a yearly fee of $140 to maintain the Augmented Reality Genestreams Sculpture Payable on the 1st of July, (the first day of the Australian financial year) from the year after the Augmented Reality Genestreams Songlines Sculpture is launched.

Total – $500 + GST

Step 1 outcome – On the completion of step 1 the phylogenetic tree for this project based on the regional species story of shared ancestry will have been researched and modelled. A 3d digital model of the proposed sculpture in Augmented Reality will have been created no art is featured on the sculpture at this time.

Step 2 – SciArt Project – Interactive Art on the Ecology, Geology and Deep Time History of the Region

Note: This stage may take the form of an artist residency project.

  • Creation and digital reproduction fee for the scientific illustration/field naturalist art – $3,000
  • Admin, research and documentation of the ecology geology and the deep time history of the region and the selection of the 15 species in consultation with community and scientists. Web page development online learning and teaching platform which documents the project sharing information on the ecology, culture, geology, and deep time history of the region as seen on sciart.com.au/projects/ – $1,500

Total – $4,500 + GST

Step 2 outcome – On the completion of step 2 the field naturalist art featuring 15 selected species will be complete and featured on the SciArt website with all the accompanying research from the project as seen on sciart.com.au/projects/. The artwork is designed for display on the Genestreams Songlines Sculpture, the digital mural and other displays that promote the project.

SciArt Interactive Artwork

Step 3 – Songlines Project – Acknowledging First Nations Culture, Songlines and offering an opportunity for Aboriginal artists to contribute

  • Digital reproduction fee to the Aboriginal artists work (the artists keep their original artwork) – $3,000
  • Adding digital images of the Aboriginal art onto to a 3D digital model of the Genestreams Sculpture that was developed in step 2 so it becomes a Genestreams Songlines Sculpture – $100
  • Combining all the external and internal art into one digital Genestreams Songlines Mural available for display in a community visitors center – $400

Total – $3,500 + GST

Step 3 outcome – On the completion of step 3 the Aboriginal art for the project will be featured on the 3d digital model now titled the Genestreams Songlines Sculpture which can be displayed in Augmented Reality. All the art for the project will be featured on the SciArt website along with any artist statements submitted by the artists. The art will be displayed on the Genestreams Songlines digital mural and displays that promote the project.

The Genestreams Songlines Sculptures National Tourism Trail – With these 3 steps completed the project will become part of the Genestreams Songlines Sculptures National Tourism Trail

Step 4 – Genestreams Songlines Sculpture – Installing the Public Artwork

  • Fabrication, digital printing and Installation of the Genestreams Songlines Sculpture – $55,000 (as calculated on material prices (February 2022)
  • Genestreams Songlines Sculpture design licensing fee – $1,500

Total – $56,500 + GST

Step 4 outcome – On the completion of step 4 the Genestreams Songlines Sculpture will be installed in the region at a location selected by the community.
