This webpage is for communities who have requested more information on the Genestreaming Journey Sculpture Initiative.
Recent Events: The Gondwana Link Genestreaming Journey Sculpture Trail was established in 2025 to high acclaim and has been welcomed by the communities across southwest Australia who are involved. This recently included communities in Northcliffe, Denmark, Bremer Bay, Ravensthorpe, Hyden, Kellerberrin and Capel amongst others. Other national & international Genestreaming Journey Sculptures include Singapore Gardens by the Bay, Alice Springs and the Bunya Mountains.
The sculptures, through art share information about the science, conservation and culture of a region.
- From a scientific perspective they are giant evolutionary trees. The base plate of each sculpture illustrates the shared ancestry between selected regional species that are of conservation importance including the human species. This research is undertaken by Gary Muir of WOW Wilderness Eco-Projects.
- From a conservation perspective they are giant maps of the region which highlight conservation values. This internal field naturalist art project for the sculpture is developed by the projects Art of Nature team Mali Moir and Ben Beeton in consultation with local scientists and conservation organisations.
- From a cultural perspective the external art for the sculpture promotes first nations artists work with connections to the region and/or promotes an awareness of first nations approach to conservation through art in local school programs.
The Genestreaming Journey Augmented Reality sculptures featuring unique art are valued at $30,000 – example project link click here, The augmented reality sculpture will be readily available to communities via a QR code and local signage. They feature a deep time story of the history of the Earth including walking dinosaurs.
