I propose that music be written for the purpose of being played at the opening of each Genestreaming sculpture. Each sculpture would have its own unique piece of music informed by the structure of the phylogenetic tree base plate. In total their are nine sculptures and therefore there will be 9 pieces of music.
The primary concept for the compositional structure of the music modeled on the phylogenetic tree is that it commences with a low resonating note for LUCA or a nearer common ancestor to the present. This could be represented by a digeridoo at times. Each bifurcation in the phylogenetic tree may have a common single note played perhaps on a triangle to signal speciation. The number of new melody variations that are introduced and when they are introduced will be informed by the number and location of bifurcations in the phylogenetic tree. Descendant melody streams always build on their ancestral melody streams. Eventually, when the music concludes, arriving at the present day there will be 16 complimentary melody variations playing in unison.

Music development will be project managed by Ben and created through collaboration with Extinction6 members. To achieve this objective I will require help from Gary – “The Tree of Life Guy” in the form of phylogenetic trees that read from left to right for each of the base plates data as seen above. Extinction 6 members will then translate them into music. In the future the music could perhaps be generated as part of the software which generates the phylogenetic trees for the base plate.
Animations could accompany this music. The audience could follow a circle expanding from the center of the circular phylogenetic tree or a line which moves from left to right along the score in time with the music.
