With recent experiences the co-founders Aunty Carol Pettersen and Ben Beeton have decided to unfold the Genestreaming Journey Sculptures in a way that we believe will broaden an understanding of our project in a way that increases the potential of participation.
Step 1) We will create the field naturalist art.
Step 2) We will undertake the research which informs the phylogenetic tree baseplate and generate the baseplate.
Step 3) We will make the Augmented Reality sculpture publicly available.
Step 4) We will invite Aboriginal artists with connections to the region to view the Augmented Reality sculpture and to see where their art can be placed on the outside of the petals.
Step 5) We will seek approval from the appropriate bodies for specific Aboriginal artists who wish to contribute to have their work exhibited on the outside of the sculpture.
We strongly believe that our new approach of publishing the scientific and field naturalist components in the AR sculpture first, will enable us to establish the project whilst then also having something to show local Aboriginal artists how their work can be shown on the outside of the petals. From a range of experiences we have come to the informed decision that this is by far the best way forward and will make communications much easier.
